Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting for the release of GTA 6 for many years now. While the exact release date is unknown, the rumors and reports swirling around the internet suggest that it could be launching soon. In this article, we look at all of the latest information available on GTA 6’s potential release date.

The development of “Grand Theft Auto V” was announced in 2011 and released in 2013, which shows that Rockstar Games takes its time to develop their games to ensure that they meet a high standard of quality. So a delay in the release date of GTA 6 could be expected.

GTA 6 News Leaks

There have been several leaks

Vice City, which was the location for “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City,” a previous game in the franchise. This would mark a return to the iconic location and could bring back some of the nostalgia from the 80s setting. Some leaks also suggest that the game will take place in South America, a new and exciting location for the series, potentially focusing on drug trafficking as a theme.

The game will feature a female protagonist, a first for the series. This would be a big step for the franchise and would bring more diversity to the characters, giving players more choices in terms of character representation.

The game will feature multiple protagonists, similar to “Grand Theft Auto V,” which would allow players to experience the story from different perspectives. This would add more depth to the story and make it more engaging.

The game will have a larger map than previous entries and possibly include multiple locations, allowing players to explore more of the game’s world and discover new secrets.

The game will have a more realistic and immersive gameplay experience, emphasizing character development, decision-making, and branching storylines, making the game more engaging and realistic.

Despite the significant setback, Rockstar has stated that even though it is “very disappointed” that early footage of the new sandbox game has leaked, work on “the next Grand Theft Auto” will go according to schedule. Assuring fans that they “will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this future game when it is ready,” the developers promise to release their upcoming title soon.

At the very least, GTA 6 has been actively being worked on since Rockstar announced in a community update on February 4 that “active development for the next chapter in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.” Whatever it is, we can be confident that it will be “unique.” Rockstar acknowledged that more significant resources are being devoted to “the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise” and that it wants to make sure the new game “exceed[s] gamers’ expectations” as part of the studio’s statement that it was discontinuing support for Red Dead Online.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick thinks that better production tools and larger teams could reduce the time between game releases in a 2019 interview with gamesindustry.biz. Also, it can imply that “games may be a little shorter” while still receiving post-launch solid support.

Another reason the next GTA might be shorter is to lessen the pressure of deadlines. According to Kotaku’s report from 2020, “management has laid out a plan for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, that involves starting with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game), and then expanding with regular updates over time, which may help alleviate stress and crunch.” Employees at Rockstar are speaking out about the constructive improvements the firm is implementing due to the criticism it received following the deadline for Red Dead Redemption 2. The release date for GTA 6 has yet to be officially announced, so it could still be years away.

Rumors About the GTA 6 Leaks

In Tom Henderson’s July 2021 video, in which he explores the hypothesis that GTA 6 is set in modern-day Vice City and not the 1980s, as some believed, he mentions a few more rumors that seem to fit with some of the information from the leaks. This is accurate based on a released video showing Jason boarding a Vice City Metro train.

Regarding the GTA 6 map, some fans believe that Vice City and its surroundings may be twice as big as Los Santos in GTA 5 if the estimates from the GTA 6 leak were accurate. According to rumors, the campaign’s map will evolve thanks to DLC, adding new regions or updating ones already existing by the DLC’s concept. In light of this, the upcoming GTA Online mode might feature an “evolving landscape” that alters with each update, similar to how Fortnite’s map does with the start of each new season.

Even though leaks have revealed the new playable female character, rumors about her have swelled for a while. Observing GTA Forums, users have discovered some hints while keeping tabs on some voice actors. A performance as “Tamara” in a project with the codename “Fireball” is what one actor, Natonia Monet, originally lists on her resume. Although this profile has subsequently been changed, one of their users notes that Pitbull is from Miami and that “Fireball” is the name of a song by Pitbull. This is significant because Miami Vice’s drug-filled beaches served as the basis for the original GTA Vice City. The video identifies the character as Lucia, suggesting that she might not be the main one.

In the upcoming GTA 6, it would make sense to have a female protagonist in the campaign. Dan Houser, one of the masterminds behind the GTA series, previously answered questions about why playable female characters were not included in previous GTA games. During an interview with The Guardian in 2013, he explained that the decision not to include female characters in GTA V was not intentional, and the team was not trying to follow a checklist of requirements. Houser believed such an approach would not produce a believable or engaging character.

He said that the team had considered the possibility of a game with a female lead character, but they had yet to find a suitable game for it. Houser noted that a female lead character could be fantastic in the future, with suitable themes.

Are the latest GTA 6 leaks true?

Fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise were left in a frenzy after dozens of pictures and videos, allegedly from an early build of the game, were leaked online on September 18, 2022. While many were excited to catch a glimpse of the highly-anticipated game, others were skeptical about the authenticity of the leaks.
Rockstar, the game’s developer, later confirmed that the leaks were real and that sensitive material had been stolen in a network intrusion. In a statement released shortly after the leak, Rockstar expressed disappointment that any information about the game had been shared in this manner. They assured fans that they would be properly introduced to the game when it was ready and that they were committed to delivering an experience that exceeded expectations.
Despite efforts by the GTA Forums and Reddit to remove all traces of the leak, fans continued to speculate about the impact of the breach on the development of the game. Rockstar was quick to reassure fans that the leak would not have any impact on the development of GTA 6 or the security of GTA 5 and GTA Online.

Release Date Rumors: When Will GTA 6 Be Released?

As with any highly-anticipated game, fans are eager to know when they can expect to get their hands on GTA 6. While Rockstar has yet to confirm an official release date, rumors have been circulating online.
One rumor, supported by multiple sources, suggests that GTA 6 will be released in 2025 and set in a modern-day version of Vice City. However, another rumor suggests that the game could be released as early as 2024. According to Bloomberg, current and former Rockstar staff estimate that GTA 6 is still at least two years away from release, implying a 2024 launch.

GTA 6 Location: A Return to Vice City

One thing that is clear from the leaked footage is that GTA 6 will be set in a modern-day version of Vice City. Fans of the franchise will remember Vice City from the third installment of the game, which was set in 1986.
While the city has changed since then, with the presence of NPCs wielding smartphones and wearing modern clothing, classic Vice City locations such as the Malibu Club, Ocean View Hotel, Little Haiti, and Vice Beach have all been spotted in leaked screenshots.

Despite the excitement surrounding the GTA 6 leaks, it’s important to take rumors with a grain of salt. While some rumors have been supported by multiple sources, others are nothing more than speculation. Fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Rockstar before they can know for sure what to expect from the highly-anticipated game.
In the meantime, fans can rest assured that the leak will not have any impact on the development of the game or the security of GTA 5 and GTA Online. Rockstar remains committed to delivering an experience that exceeds expectations and will introduce fans to the game when it’s ready.

Leak GTA 6 Gameplay

As for what we can expect from the gameplay of GTA 6, leaks have revealed that there are not many differences from GTA 5. In one scene, the player is seen holding up a diner while trying to prevent hostages from escaping by shooting them in the back as they run away. In another scene, characters named Jason and Lucia evade the cops by stealing one of their cars and driving around the block. Jason leans out of the moving car while shooting with an assault rifle.

Recently leaked test footage of GTA 6 reveals some new movement mechanics, including a cover system, crouching, and crawling. The playable character can also use their hands or weapon to cover their face and avoid headshots.

One exciting feature shown in the footage is a new vision ability that Jason uses while looking in a convenience store. It appears similar to Deadeye in Red Dead Redemption, but currently, it only adjusts the color of the footage.

As expected, the game includes drivable vehicles such as cars, boats, and a Metro that takes players across the city. The vehicles also allow players to adjust the wheel position, chair angles, and other controls.

We still have a long way to go until the official reveal of one of the best PC games, GTA 6. In the meantime, check out our list of the best sandbox games on PC to scratch that open-world itch.
