The story is about a young woman named Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson. She’s just finished college. She meets a rich businessman named Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan. They start a special kind of relationship that involves some unusual things.

The idea for the movie began in March 2012 when Universal Pictures won the rights to the book series. Sam Taylor-Johnson was chosen to be the director in June 2013. She said that movies like “9½ Weeks,” “Last Tango in Paris,” and “Blue Is the Warmest Colour” inspired her. The main actors were chosen between October and December 2013. They started filming in December 2013 and finished in February 2014. They had to redo some scenes in October 2014.

Plot:

The 21-year-old Anastasia “Ana” Steele is an English literature major at Washington State University’s satellite campus in Vancouver, Washington. When her roommate Kate Kavanagh, becomes ill and unable to talk with Christian Grey, a 27-year-old billionaire entrepreneur for the student newspaper on campus, Ana accepts her spot. In Christian’s Seattle headquarters, Ana struggles through the conference. Christian who was this the year’s WSU graduation speaker develops an interest in her. the next day, he stops by the hardware store in which Ana is employed, and suggests to shoot a photo to accompany an article she interviewed him for.

Christian invites Ana for a cup of coffee and leaves abruptly when she admits to being an ardent romantic and says Christian isn’t the right man for her. Christian then sends her the first editions of the two Thomas Hardy novels, including Tess of the d’Urbervilles, as a gift, along with a line from the former book on the dangers of romance in a card. Ana and her friends celebrated their graduation at a local pub. In the aftermath of a drink, she phoned Christian and tells him she’s returning the books and criticizing Christian for his behavior toward her. Christian goes to the bar in search of her, and arrives, her photographer close friend, Jose Rodriquez, attempts to kiss her in a way that she doesn’t want to. Ana becomes unwell. The next day she awakes in the hotel room of Christian, happy to discover that they’re not in a relationship. Ana and Christian start to meet however, he insists the couple sign a confidentiality document which prevents her from disclosing information concerning their romance. Christian clarifies that he participates in sexual bonds and only when it is defined by a contract signed between the two parties. Ana declares that she is an unmarried woman. As she is pondering the contract and making her own arrangements after having a look around Christian’s “playroom”, a room filled with BDSM toys including furniture and equipment, and equipment, she and Christian are having traditional sex. In the morning, she gets to meet Christian’s adoptive mom, Grace who appears unexpectedly. 

Christian presents a variety of gifts and favors to Ana and her family, including a brand-new car and laptop. After Ana and Kate relocate to Seattle and continue to see Christian. While eating dinner at his parents’ house, Ana suddenly mentions she will leave the next day for her mom’s visit in Georgia. Then, Christian becomes frustrated when Ana states that she would like more than just the one-sided relationship that he is proposing to. Ana is stunned by the time Christian arrives in Georgia and does a gliding with her, after which he goes back to Seattle to attend to an emergency situation at work. When she returns home, Ana continues seeing Christian, who is seeking more sexual experiments. She initially agrees, however, Christian is emotionally distant which upsets her. As she is still pondering the contract and trying to comprehend Christian’s mental state, Ana asks him to show how he will “punish” her for rule-breaking. He slaps her buttocks with belts and makes her count every strike loudly. Disgusted and angry, Ana leaves Christian, concluding that he’s not right to her and that his methods are a bit naughty and over the top.
